18/07/2018

Game Management Authority (GMA) Chairperson Brian Hine today announced the appointment of Mr Graeme Ford as the new Chief Executive Officer for Victoria’s hunting regulator.

The GMA works with the community as the independent regulator ensuring that game hunting is conducted in a sustainable and responsible manner.

Mr Hine said Mr Ford possesses an impressive array of leadership experience from his previous roles.

“Mr Ford’s experience as the Chief Executive Officer at the Victorian Farmers Federation and more recently as the Principal Consultant at Hillside Advisory Services, will make an important contribution to the future operation of the GMA,” Mr Hine said.

“He has a Victorian rural farming background and has significant experience on a broad range of boards and committees where he has worked extensively with diverse stakeholders and government over many years.”

“He is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the General Management Program of Harvard Business School and holds post graduate qualifications in rural resource management, applied science and business administration.”

“His qualifications, experience and strong interest in rural, land management and environmental issues make him an ideal appointment as the Chief Executive Officer for the GMA.”

Mr Ford was appointed to the position following a thorough Australia wide recruitment process that attracted a strong field of candidates.

“I would also like to acknowledge and sincerely thank the inaugural Chief Executive Officer Greg Hyams for his dedication and commitment to the role. The guidance and contributions Mr Hyams has made have been critical in establishing, developing and consolidating the GMA since it was created as the state’s hunting regulator in 2014.”

Victoria has more than 50,000 licensed game hunters who contribute millions of dollars into towns and regional centers across Victoria each year, supporting around 3,500 jobs.
