Enforcement agencies bust illegal hound hunters in Alpine National Park

Parks Victoria, Victoria Police and Game Management Authority joined forces over the weekend to tackle illegal hunting in the Alpine National Park.

The multi-agency approach worked effectively to patrol and conduct covert surveillance of a group of hound hunters operating near 8 Mile in the Howqua Hills area of the Alpine National Park.

Four men were questioned regarding firearms and hunting offences and had their firearms seized.

As part of the operation, Parks Victoria operated a Remote Piloted Aircraft (drone) to assist with surveillance and gather vital intelligence.

Any person who intends to hunt in Victoria's parks and forests must ensure that they are appropriately licensed and hunt in the correct areas.
