Waterfowl Identification Test and hound hunting testing now available

The GMA is conducting Waterfowl Identification Tests (WIT) and hound hunting testing across regional Victoria from Monday, 22 March 2021.

The GMA is conducting Waterfowl Identification Tests (WIT) and hound hunting testing across regional Victoria from Monday, 22 March 2021.

From next week, prospective duck and hound hunters will be able to complete the WIT and hound hunting test ahead of the 2021 duck season and the 2021 hound hunting season.

Testing is being held at community venues across Victoria including Bairnsdale, Benalla, Bendigo, Ballarat, Box Hill, Epping, Geelong, Lakes Entrance, Sale and Traralgon.

Anyone wishing to hunt ducks in Victoria must pass the WIT prior to applying for a Game Licence to do so.

Anyone wishing to hunt Sambar Deer with hounds in Victoria must pass the hound hunting test before applying for a Game Licence to do so.

The GMA provides a range of education material, including Victoria’s game hunting manual, fact sheets and videos at GMA Education and on the GMA YouTube channel.

Authorised Officers will continue to patrol private and public land across the state to ensure compliance with game hunting laws and regulations.
